I compose provocative images using carefully observed renderings of subjects presented for their literal value, as well as symbolic significance.  By unshackling the formal elements of traditional altarpieces and Ikons, I create new icons that exist as aesthetic objects which explore the relationships between more basic universal intersts.  Rather than windows to heaven, my icons serve as intimate mirrors, reflecting a viewer's personal experience in the world.  The intentionally intimate quality of the icons provides a quiet space for personal contemplation.
